The seasons of nature are reflected in the lives of people and have been the artistic inspiration for multiple disciplines. In this project, our group decided to use abstract motion videos to project onto different forms in nature to portray each season. As a group, we went out mapped, projected, and filmed our animations outside and created a piece together. Each member in the group was a director of a season, which included making animations, deciding what parts of nature to project on, and video editing.
My season was summer. Born and raised in Texas, most of my life has been spent in summer. My animations are based on the feelings I have in response to summer, like the eternal heat I always feel, the cool water as I went swimming at the lake and I also used abstract images inspired by the colors of summer, specifically sunsets that I used to watch in the country. I chose to project out on Tybee Beach because beaches intrigue me, never having lived close enough to one until I moved to Savannah, they remind me of experiencing new things, and traveling, which often happens during the summer months due to school breaks. I projected on the ocean waves, sand, seashells, and plants on the dunes.
